Steps to prepare Paneer Turanta

  • Cut the paneer into medium sized cubes
  • To the paneer cubes sprinkle little salt and keep aside
  • To a heated pan, add oil and fry the paneer first
  • Once paneer is light brown on both sides, take it out and keep aside
  • To the same oil, now add the finely chopped onions; continue frying till the onions become translucent and light pink
  • Now add ginger garlic paste to the onions and saute it
  • To this mixture add the finely chopped tomatoes till it is completely mashed and mixed well with the onions and ginger garlic
  • To this now add a pinch of turmeric, red chili powder and stir everything
  • Once all ingredients are mixed, add the curd and continue stirring till the oil starts separating from the masala paste
  • Now add the fried paneer cubes and mix it with the masala paste; continue stirring everything together now for additional 2-3 minutes
  • Once everything is mixed well, add luke warm water depending on much gravy you want; recommend adding approximately 1 small cup of water and not more than that.
  • Check the consistency of the curry and after few minutes take it off the oven
  • Paneer Turanta is cooked and is now ready to be served with roti, paratha, puri or rice
