Making the spicy momo sauce

  • Boil the dry red chilies and tomatoes together in a thick bottomed vessel
  • After it is boiled, take out the tomatoes and the chili and allow it to cool
  • Peel the tomatoes and coarsely grind the tomatoes and chilies and keep it aside
  • Now in a frying pan on the gas oven, add oil, chopped ginger, garlic and saute till it is slightly brown
  • To this now add the chili and tomato paste and keep stirring
  • Once the mixture is mixed well and starts to thicken, add sugar, salt and soya sauce
  • Continue to stir and allow it to thicken a little more; once the color starts changing to deep red, it is time to take it off the oven
  • Spicy tomato chili sauce is ready
  • This can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 15 days
  • Enjoy this with some traditional steamed momos of your choice!
