Cooking Time

  • 10-15 minutes

Steps to prepare the chicken momos

  • Step 1 – Making the Dough
    • In a mixing bowl, add the all-purpose flour along with a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon oil
    • Mix the ingredients well so that the oil and salt folds well into the flour
    • After it is mixed well, slowly add the lukewarm water and gently start mixing
    • Keep a check on the quantity of water added and knead it well to form a soft dough
    • Rest the dough for 15-20 mins
  • Step 2 – Preparing the Chicken filling
    • Boil the chicken in a pressure cooker; season the chicken while boiling with a pinch salt, pepper, and a pinch of ginger garlic paste
    • After the chicken is boiled and cooled down, it is time to shred the chicken
  • To the shredded chicken add salt per taste, black pepper, finely chopped onions, garlic, ginger, green chilies, soya sauce, coriander leaves and 1 teaspoon of oil
  • Nicely mix all the spices to the chicken
  • Step 3 – Making the momos
    • Cut out small pieces from the dough (step 1) and with a rolling pin roll it into thin and small rounds
    • Add the chicken filling to the dough and fold it by tightly sealing the edges (you can make any design of your choice)
    • Once all the dough is rolled into small rounds and filled with chicken and folded add these momos into the steamer and place it side by side
  • Cover the steamer with the lid and let it steam on the oven for 10 minutes
  • After 10 minutes, the momos are steamed and ready to be served with the special Momo Sauce or Chili Chutney (recipe also posted on my blog)
