Fish Fillet Fry

Ingredients

  • 6-7 pieces of boneless fish fillet (Basa or Bhetki fish)
  • 2 tablespoons of onion paste
  • 1 tablespoon of ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of corn flour
  • 100 grams of breadcrumb
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Salt as per taste
  • Oil to fry the fish  
  • Black salt to sprinkle at the end

Preparation Time

  • 20 minutes (Steps 1&2; excluding refrigeration time)

Cooking Time  

  • 10-15 minutes (step 3; excluding refrigeration time)

Steps to frying the Fish Fillet

Step 1

  • In a flat bottom bowl mix onion, ginger garlic paste, pepper, salt and the juice of half the lemon
  • Take one fillet at a time and rub this mixture on both sides ensuring the fish is coated well on both sides
  • Keep the spice coated fillets in a separate plate
  • Repeat the process for all the fillets and keep it in the fridge for 2 hours

Step 2

  • In a bowl, make a batter of egg white, corn flour and a pinch of salt
  • In a plate spread the breadcrumb
  • After 2 hours, take out the fillet from fridge
  • Now, take spice coated fillet which has rested in the fridge for 2 hours and dip it in the egg and corn flour batter prepared above
  • Next coat this battered fish with the breadcrumbs
  • Repeat the process for all the fillets and spread all the fillets nicely in a plate and rest it in the fridge again for 3-4 hours for all ingredients to bind together
  • Step 3
  • After 3-4 hours, take out the fish from the fridge
  • After 10 minutes, deep fry the fillet one by one till all the fillets are fried
  • When all fillets are fried, it is now time to serve
  • Sprinkle a pinch of black salt on the fried fillets and serve it with mustard sauce (Kashondi), or tomato sauce or any other sauce of your taste
